philanthropy is a lifestyle which every living soul ought to cultivate irrespective of his/her financial strength or social status. It is pro-people, pro-poor, pro-jobs, pro-nature, etc.

Philanthropists do not only spend and invest money but they try to help others to become a better version of themselves. Nigeria is blessed with many of such men and women who started from the scratch, kept their nose to the grindstone and turn seemingly insignificant ideas into behemoth industries then raced into the world of philanthropy in order to touch lives.

In no particular sequence, some of them will be eulogised by the opportunity provided by this piece as their humanitarian services though in the public domain; should always be amplified to encourage others to follow suit in that line of servitude.

Nwanta Anayoeze Yonaracha
            Nwata Anayoeze represents the new face of online philanthropy with catholic of beneficiaries singing his anthem(praises). The billionaire Sultan of Banana Island(haven of the mega-monies) and the Alaafin of Lekki, Lagos-Nigeria; has emerged a great bridge builder between the old and younger generation new media lovers. The oil and gas ambassador has unconsciously given oxygen to the belief that aside private jet, Nigeria’s super-rich have other means by which they pay homage to elegance and elitist-consumption and there is no better way to flaunt their wherewithal than by buying some brand new European sports cars and tailor made American blessed posh automobile. He is ornament crazy, lives big and collects expensive cars same way he collects wrist watches. He recently framed his name in the sands of time by constructing a petrol station as part of activities to engage his online Nigerian fans thereafter doled out different currencies to his foreign fans during one of his Asian tours leaving them falling over each other to get their hands on the money. He was reputed to have rained crisp notes at a friends(Escobar Smith) child dedication in the recent past and has given scholarships to several others. Nwata Anayoeze makes the list with these qualities. “Thank you Sir” is my only encouragement for him.

Tuface Idibia
      Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as “2baba”, portrays the image of celebrity philanthropist. One of Nigeria’s most talented music stars; 2baba is unarguably one of the greatest music veterans that have exported Nigerian music industry across the length and breadth of the world(Music Ambassador). He approaches charity via his brainchild “Tuface Foundation” which recently coughed out the sum of 3.5million to the IDP camps. Reputed to be one of Nigeria’s bankable artistes; has his fame shot through the roof after his single “African Queen” struck the air and garnered both local and international awards. With the impact of Tuface foundation to the less privileged and his posturing as a peace ambassador to the forthcoming elections; he deserves an accolade as a philanthropist. “Keep the good work going Sir”, is my simple support for him. Chief Mrs Folorunsho Alakija
        Blessed among the male billionaires in Nigeria. A fashion enthusiast(follower) turned industrialist who is famed as the world’s richest African woman and Nigeria’s first female billionaire according to Forbes. She alternates her vast business interests with evangelism branding her as a woman of God. She has distinguished herself in a terrain(billionaires) populated by men. Quitting is not a word in her dictionary as she has presided over the social scene for many years as a socialite and philanthropist. No high octane event is complete without her matronly presence. She engages charity via her pet project tagged “ Rose of Sharon Foundation” which has tall records of charitable deeds especially for women(widows) and children. Her philanthropic activities have emblazoned her name on the list. “Kindness pays greatly Ma”. Thanks

          A great follower of Christ who lives the message he preaches through various acts of charity to the poor and vulnerable in the society. A pulpit man who uses philanthropy to win souls for the kingdom of God. He is the General Overseer presiding over OPM; which is an acronym for Omega Power Ministries Worldwide. He runs free restaurant and scholarship schemes where the financially weak takes refuge to sustain living as a way out of indigency. The media exposure to his charitable works is second to none and serves as a veritable platform to reach out to the needy across the globe. Any charity piece without his name is considered rigged. He is so wealthy that many a billionaire feels poor around him. He parades transportation system that dumbfounds passers-by and showcases the most expensive toys around the world ranging from private jet, Rolls Royce phantom, Bentley, Porsche, etc, that can make Mandilas and Unique Motors among others, go green with envy. He has empowered several people who now occupy the millionaires and billionaires space in Nigeria and beyond. Even compilation doctored in the spirit world must include his name.          One of the brightest men from the North speaks volume of charity emblematic of the Northern star. A mega-billionaire international statesman who is known for his marriage with charity and truth. He is a recipient of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger(GCON) national honour, which is the highest award given in Nigeria to a non-head of state. He is known to have donated over $100million to charity. His foundation is reputed to be one of Africa’s largest charity organizations. Even his detractors will include his name in the list because his philanthropic engagements are unmatchless. Even angels are with his records and know him as a philanthropist. No African charity archive is considered credible without a unique mention of his name. “Long life in Sound health Sir”. Thanks

Need I say more? The list is endless but for want of time, I have to drop my pen here. Any greatness not married to philanthropy is selfish and should not be role-modeled. Times are changing, therefore leaders and promising leaders from all walks of life ranging from political, religious, traditional, sports, entertainment, etc, should emulate the above qualities to sign an enduring signature leadership that will stamp succession to generations and make Nigeria a better nation. Philanthropy is not only financial but also mentoring, kindness, selfless service, patriotism etc,  provided such is done without reward or interest projections.
